Half Way There!

WELCOME to a new week and to the last week of the sixth month of the year! We are knocking on the door of the second half of this year….it is going by SO quickly!

So I wanted to revisit the basics this week. On the journal that we each get every week the following happen to be listed:

MIND
My Motivation:

My Affirmation for the week:

My Wins for the week:

My Reward:

My Journal:

FOOD
Tune in to your hunger pre and post meal. 1=not hungry, 3=ready to eat, 5=starving

BODY
Record your activity and pre and post activity feelings

Since my recommitment, I’ve been trying to complete each weeks journal in it’s entirety. But I gotta be honest….prior to me completely surrendering “my way”, I didn’t pay that much attention to that journal. How about you? How closely are we REALLY following the program?

So this week as a reminder to myself to not get too “full of myself and my way” I am going back to basics….again and then next week repeat, but for now it’s all about renewing my commitment AGAIN. So how about all of you? Can we rejoin without quitting and REALLY follow the program?

All of us who’ve been posting on the JATTNE board since the holidays of 2008 had SO much anticipation about what life could be if we made THIS the year that we REALLY did it. If you’re like me and you’ve forgotten what you said you wanted for this year, take the time to think back to all you wished would happen in 2009.

GOALS can STILL be reached. So what’s it gonna be? In another 6months we’ll be looking back at this post. I say we all go for what we REALLY want the MOST and not just what we want in those impulsive moments. Okay…

Here we go…….

Unpack This Weekend

It’s the weekend, woohoo! Maybe all my traveling made me think of this topic, since I find myself unpacking and repacking all the time BUT I thought we could challenge ourselves to unpack our baggage and make room for the new opportunities.

Let’s unpack the “shoulda, woulda, coulda, I hate I just did” thoughts. I mean there are lots of things that maybe we should have done. Choices if we could go back we would have made. Food we wish we could have said no to. Deviations on the program that we all could say “I hate I just did” that. Okay so there……let’s unpack those thoughts of the past. NOW is all that matters. IN THIS MOMENT there are so many possibilities!

I had a 0.4 pound gain this week, and considering it was TOM, the broken fridge at my hotel, spoiled food, and double digit work hours, I couldn’t be happier. That is the smallest gain I have ever had during this wonderful time to celebrate being a woman (okay I’m trying to be positive with my very negative hormonal attitude right now)!

Anyway…..

Let’s set some NOW goals for the weekend that we KNOW CAN happen. Face forward, enjoy some fun in the sun, unpack, and look up and around for all that’s still possible!

Here we go…………………….

Happy Hump Day!

So I’m traveling again this week for work, as I am 99% of the time. I was able to drive for this business meeting, so no 3 ounce bottles of anything with me! I also packed all my JC food and called ahead about a refrigerator. So I get to the hotel and I only have a min-bar in my room. It’s empty but it is like a sauna on the inside. They replaced it but explained that the min-bar will not get as cold as a refrigerator. I called the front desk and asked about getting a refrigerator and they said they would call me back. Well as it approached 10pm, I decided to go get ice thinking I could at least keep my food cold for the night. I travel with the JC blue quilted bags but they don’t keep food cold for more than two hours.

So I go to get ice and in the room where the ice is supposed to be I see two mini-refrigerators stacked! The one on top is unplugged, but I open it and it is still cold so my mind is clicking - this could work. Beside the stacked mini-refrigerators is a dolly. So I go back to my room and ask about these and they tell me they are out of service. But you know that feeling you get when you just don’t believe what someone is telling you? I had that feeling. So I go back to the storage room load the mini-fridge on the dolly and proceed to set it up in my room.

Long story short, it’s working fine and my JC entrees, snacks, fruits, and cut up veggies that I brought are all ready to go and so am I! So my point for this hump day is, when it becomes non-negotiable to go off my plan there is ALWAYS a way to do this program. I’ll be working until 10pm for the next two days. So working from 7am to 10pm I DESERVE to fuel my body appropriately and to maintain a healthy mindset. And I do that when I FIRST take care of myself.

So JATTNE (Jenny All The Time No Excuses) for me on this hump day. How about for you?

‘til my weigh in this Saturday,

TGIM

My treat this week!

My treat this week!

Ever wonder why people always write TGIF but never TGIM. I mean what really is the difference between a Friday and a Monday other than what we tell ourselves? Why is it the majority of us seem to loathe Monday as if the gift of a new day is only valuable if it’s Friday? As I continue to reframe and retrain my mind around food, the Jenny Craig program is also prompting me to reframe and retrain my mind around my self-talk. So TGIM—thank goodness it’s Monday! Why? I have another day to step closer to my weight loss goal for this week, which will be another two pounds. I have another day to stick to my Jenny Craig plan and to rock my JATTNE (Jenny All the Time No Excuses) motto. I have another day of life.

I want to give a little update on my weigh in and plan to share it with you on Saturdays because that’s when I weigh in at my centre. I lost 2.2 pounds (!!!) and that was with six days of the week being away from home in multiple airports, hotels, social settings, and with long work hours. So there I just proved to myself once again that this program CAN be done under ANY circumstances, with one exception – lack of willingness. If you lose your will then there will always be an excuse sitting around to use.

So my reward this week was a homemade bouquet of flowers that I got from a local grocery store for about 4 bucks. If you listen to Touchstones you know this technique is key to PREVENTING a binge and do I ever need that!

Okay….here we go. See you on Hump Day but until then TGIM.

Weight Loss Competitions

I’ve been reading a ton lately on the net about people joining weight loss competitions. I’ve read about families competing, coworkers competing and more! It seems shows like The Biggest Loser have really started to impact the way we think about weight loss. It used to be that weight loss (and it still is for some) was a very private matter. The challenge here is that there is not very much accountability.

I read an article on Discovery Health that goes over the details of a study that found that weight loss programs that involved supportive weigh-ins helped dieters lose more weight and keep it off!

This seems to fall right in line with a blog I read the other day, One Size DOES NOT Fit All. Patrice wrote about how shell fell of the Jenny Craig wagon, but went to her weigh in and is trying to get back on track.  She is currently super inspired by the weight loss competition that is going on at her work.  So not only does she have accountability to her Jenny Craig consultant, but she has to weigh in at work or pay a penalty fine! Talk about motivation!

What about you? Do weight loss competitions help to keep you inspired?

Are you Spring Cleaning Your Diet?

Ahhhh, Spring! The days are getting longer and the sun has come out to play.  I find that when the temperatures start to rise and blue sky takes over dreary clouds I become extra motivated to work harder on becoming healthy. I’ve kicked up my exercise routine a notch and have been extra careful about what I eat. Although I don’t plan on following in Valerie Bertinelli’s footsteps with a swimsuit splash cover (she looked amazing, by the way), I’m feeling good in my skin knowing that I’m taking care of myself.

How’s the weather out there for you? Do the changing seasons affect your diet motivation?

I’ll tell you what, it’s nice to be able to exercise a bit outside and enjoy the fresh air again! Not to mention the reopening of the local farmers market. Now I can incorporate really fresh and seasonal foods and get a bit of walking in.

One Day at A Time

It’s not what you do once in a while, it’s what you do day in and day out that makes the difference. - Jenny Craig

I’ve come across many different blogs and articles that contain this quote. What choices have you made to change your life for the better?

I think it’s interesting to think of this quote for times we’ve made mistakes. It’s all too easy to beat yourself up if you cheat on your diet, or skip a day or two of exercise. Instead try to consider the big picture and try to make positive choices. That’s what counts in the end.
